St Patrick's' Day - Lucky 13 Holy Mother-Forking Shirtballs

Image
I already knew right away what I'd be wearing for St Paddy's Day this year: outdoor, bright direct sunlight Oh YESSSSS.  Let's do that again, shall we? indoor, window-filtered indirect daylight I am an inveterate green lover, so when Lucky 13 dropped Holy Mother-Forking Shirtballs with this past December's PPU, it was a foregone conclusion that I'd need to snap it up tout suite. indoor, bright CF lighting Tonal thermals are typically my favorite - if things switch between two shades of the same color, there's no chance of weird intermediates and it's always pretty - but this one kicks that up a notch by being a tri-thermal.  At it's coldest, Shirtballs is a richly saturated kelly green (as in the bottle above, and on the very tips of my middle and ring fingers).  A little warmer and it leans teal, a grassy oceanic green (the rest of my middle and ring fingers).  Warmest, it's a pale, barely-there mint. outdoor, bright sunlight Added to that lovely m

Bee's Knees The White Witch - Pisces Birthday

It's my birthday month, so I decided a celebratory look toward hopeful stars was in order. indoor, CF lighting Bee's Knees released The White Witch as part of an Outlander-themed Fandom Flakies box for March 2019.  It's a lovely barely-ivory (not stark white) filled with aurora shimmer and flakies that shift red to gold to green. window-filtered daylight I'm wearing 3 thin coats here, which was enough for complete opacity.  The aurora shimmer warmed up the ivory base another couple of degrees, with an overall look of pearlescent shell. indoor, bright CF lighting outdoor, bright direct sunlight For the stamped design, I'm using a few cute Pisces images and tiny stars from Mundo de Unas SF Zodiac plate, in MoYou London Midnight Green. window-filtered daylight indoor, CF lighting Rating:  4 out of 5 stars.  In the right lighting, this is gloriously sparkly... while in low lighting it's a soft, office-appropriate neutral.  White nail polish often has the unfortunat

Bow Polish Dating an Alien

At the man's suggestion of "blue... no, violet!" I starting perusing my stash for a deeply saturated shade of something along those lines, and as per usual, found a gem hiding out far too long untried. indoor, bright CF lighting Bow Polish, the smaller-ml square bottled sister to Dance Legend, how do I love thee?  Dating an Alien was part of their 2016 Out of Space collection, and surely this one wins for most hilarious name. outdoor, bright direct sunlight Starting with a blue deeper than a Vulcan's blood, this jelly base is loaded with a "UP sister" pigment that's an utterly fantastic shimmer.  In direct light, it's a glowing cobalt, just barely lighter than the base color, amping up the overall look but staying fairly tonal. outdoor, bright sunlight With a slight tilt, that shimmer goes from an absolutely electric aquamarine on over to a deep royal purple.  All the colors this pigment shifts to perfectly compliment the base color. outdoor, bright

Ethereal Rainforest + Disc of the Heavens

Image
It's March, and that's my birthday month and St Patrick's Day month, and my fave color is green... all of which means I've now become convinced it's all-green month (because hey, I need a creative way to pick which treasure left too-long-buried in my stash needs to be tried out). indoor, bright CF lighting Ethereal lives up to the name yet again with Rainforest - instead of a dark, mysterious jungle, we have a light, airy, cool wisp of green tint, filled to the brim with finely milled aurora shimmer.  While it's possible to wear this extremely sheer polish on its own, this color combo tends to emphasize rather than blur my nails' free edge, so I searched through the stash for a base choice that would get me closest to the look in the bottle. indoor, CF lighting Pretty Serious had a series of polishes called "The Museum of Naileontology" that were her versions of very hard to find mainstream gems.  This one is Disc of the Heavens, her nod to Chanel
