Revisiting Urban Decay Zodiac

Image
Once upon a time (wow, 4 years ago) , I got a lovely midnight green Urban Decay LE as a holiday gift from Suzy, and though the color was pretty, I had some issues with the formula.  Well, the constantly cloudy weather has me seriously rejecting holos and sparkly things, and I thought this was due another round. indoor, CF lighting Zodiac's deep forest green base appears to have thickened up over the years, though it's been tightly sealed this whole time and there was no obvious evaporation level in the bottle.  I thought it too sheer and thin last time, and now, nope, 2 normal coats were utterly opaque and I had zero troubles with application even despite the long, tall brush handle. outdoor, partly cloudy daylight Though the sparkles of golden-green, subtle hints of blue and purple, and flashes of emerald in here all make the underlying base look black, nope, it really is forest green all around.  It's a good bit lighter than the similar sparkles in a dark ba...

Urban Decay Zodiac

Suzy got me UD's  other gorgeous LE shade  for Xmas, Zodiac. It's a very dark evergreen, with a subtle near-duochrome sparkle. These flashes of purple and blue weren't at all apparent just looking at it, but the camera picked them up pretty readily.  The color is utterly gorgeous and lush, but it took 3 coats to get there...and i still don't think I'm totally opaque with even that (check out the see-thru patch on my ring finger in the left of the above pic).  Sadly, it also wore very quickly on me, with obvious tip wear the morning after I'd painted. It totally wins the award for most badass bottle of nail polish ever, though.  Mr. Skullhead is way tuff. yes, I'm totally out in the "polar vortex" taking pics here Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.  The color is fantastic, but it's wearing on me like makeup, which is to say, not long at all.  Suzy had much better luck with hers, so I'm assuming this is one of those individual che...

Blackheart by UD

First post, first post-New Year's polish. This is Blackheart by Urban Decay.   I love Urban Decay's makeup and while trying to get to the magical "free shipping" number, I stumbled into their polishes.  Other reviews made it look and sound good, and sweet babies, it's good.  It's a polish version of one of the eye-shadows from the Naked3 palette. It's decently pigmented, and has some serious depth.   Since putting it on, I haven't seen the sun, so I only have one light shot of it.   Blackheart by UD with flash It looks completely different in the bottle - in most lighting, the bottle looks charcoal or brown, but it's a deep purple.  There's a lot of purple & red shimmer in it for me, and I love it.  I've had it on for 5 days with nary a chip and minimal tipwear. You can find it at Urban Decay , it's a smallish bottle, only 9mL, and it's $15, so not a cheapie. -S
