After loving the look of the first half of the February Baroness X OGUP/Sisters duo, clearly the second half needed playing with as well.

I've started with 2 coats of a recent Shleee mystery polish, The Long Night. This one is a deeply saturated prussian blue that was about 75% opaque in one coat. If I was going to use a topper with more coverage (such as that prior magnetic), a single coat would have been enough.

Since the topper I'm using with it is designed to be very sheer and let the base color show through, I'm showing 2 coats of The Long Night and no topcoat here. The brush and thickness were about perfect, requiring only a little cleanup - a good thing, because like most saturated blues, this does want to stain cuticle skin.

On top of The Long Night, I have one thickly dabbed layer of the topper in the BX duo, Estrellaria.

Much like for Chromaphilia, I went with a color that I thought would bring out the base shimmer while being a dark enough background for the iridescent flakies to really pop. Estrellaria's opalescence would look fantastic over an array of colors, though, so I don't think you're limited to dark ones.

This topper is comprised of a blue "sister UP" shifty shimmer, iridescent flakies in several colors, and the same (I think) small holo flake from Chromaphila. It's truly an opal in a bottle, and I'm thinking would look pretty fab over a pearl grey if you didn't want to go dark and vampy.

Because this is a big ol flakie bomb, I of course had to try it out matte for a day, which I rather liked. Why don't I matte things more often? I made a boo-boo, though, and reached for an older cheapie matte topcoat, which reminded me why I don't use that particular one anymore. Meh.

Though this is all flakes/shimmer and not glitter, somewhere between the 2 layers of blue, thick layer of sparkle, and 2 layers of matte topcoat, removal was more difficult than most polishes. Things needed a big of scrubbing to free up all those flakes & shimmer...and scrubbing meant blue was
everywhere. Additionally, this blue stained my nails a bit, which is very atypical for me. Wah!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars for both. Toppers and crèmes are both not so much my jam, I tend to reach for more complex polishes that have it all-in-one. That being said, this combo is utterly gorgeous, sparkly without being POW!! blingy, and suits me quite nicely.
Where to buy: sorry y'all, but this is yet another one where you're SOL or hunting though destashes.
Shleee releases her mysteries as one-and-done and doesn't tend to bring back the same things. For this year's every-other-monthly mystery boxes,
Baroness X has said there will be no overpours, but you can sign up for the rest of the series.
