Sweet Baby Octopolish!

I forgot to add this to the initial post, and then decided I was too lazy to edit <g> When I grabbed LL's Emerald, I thought that I might as well test run a couple of other green holos that seemed pretty close - Color by Llarowe's Gizmo and a England's Dragon. And this is what happened: Indoor Natural lighting Direct Sun You have no idea how long it took me to position my fingers to hold the bottles like that. Indoor, incandescent;  they look the closest here. Basically, they are close-ish, but there are no dupes.   Gizmo is not nearly s dark as I was hoping, and it flashes a lot more blue than I'm happy with.  When I purchased it, there were just a couple of blogger light-box photos, which put it at a perfect color for me, so there is that (read: why I will never lightbox this stuff, even if the pictures are prettier).   In most lights, Emerald is close (but not identical to) Dragon.  The key difference between them is that D...

Since the sun was actually out yesterday, I rushed to put on a holo I have been itching to try.   It's Emerald by Lacquer Lust - part of their Birthstone collection.  Since that collection kept selling out, I feel rather lucky to get a couple of bottles of it. Incandescent lighting Natural lighting inside. Inside, natural lighting Direct Sun I love using my garden as a prop (broccoli).  Direct Sun Sun - Killer fire. Emerald is what I've found is closest to a nice true green in a linear holo.  Most linear holos flash very blue and start to teal on me, and teal gives me lobster hands... and is not one of my more favorite colors to wear anyway.  The wear on this was pretty solid, I didn't have much in the way of tipwear or anything while I was wearing it (yeah, I've already changed polishes, I have a trip coming up!) I like the formula, it was easy and self leveling, and I didn't have a problem with top coats. -S ...

Harlequin Doll was a LE offered by Pahlish in December.   I snatched it up because deep purple!  Holo! Scattered Holo! (I'm loving scattereds more than linears right now). And then in the running cosmic joke that's been taking place since the spring, the sun went away.  Every time I put on a holo the sun leaves.  I will wear a holo and fly to another state and still, no sun (I thwarted that today, you'll see tomorrow) So this is HD, in the rain, while I wait for the bus (still beautiful): That's right... I'm balancing an umbrella on my head to get this shot. I think it's one of the most gorgeous polishes I own, but it doesn't wear well for me.  I might have to experiment with different base/top coats to make it work. But Friday night I went to a movie and the theatre lights brought out the bling: BAM!  It looks more brown in these very yellow toned lights, but hey, sparkles! MOAR sparkles! Apparently, it was  thermals for both of us this week .  I have Digital Nails Nox here, and it's my new fave thermal. no special tricks - this was how my nails looked most of the time Nox was part of a recent Harry Potter spells collection, each of which has a little "something" extra (thermals, holos, etc).  The color transition really hit the sweet spot of temperature shift for me, since I've had the fun french-tip effect pretty frequently with this one. after dunking in cold water to get the spectrum of colors all at once check out the color shift in the bottle When room temperature or cold, it's a rich midnight sapphire blue that shifts to a pale icy blue when warm.  It's packed with duochrome sparkle that shifts from electric blue to reddish purple, and the interaction between the sparkle and the temperature means that my nails were different colors all the time. This is a post with older photos... I will be uploading a lot of my older stuff so I have a record, and, because... why not? Blood of the Mountain was recently released by Pahlish as part of their Fall (2013) collection.  I stalked the hell out of their restocks for it, and it's a pretty solid polish.  It's more towards the brownish-warm-maroony reds than I usually go for, and the pictures I see online are much more raspberry than I get on the nail, but it's still pretty, and there's a nice scattered holo to it. Outdoor lighting, shady. In the sun, you can see some of the sparkle. Direct setting sun. Solid polish, I'm a fan.  I've been getting more and more into Pahlish's stuff, and I have not been disappointed in the quality of the polishes at all. Nostalgia by KPT is a fun little thermal.  It's a blue/purple-blue slight duochrome that's a lot of fun.  Unfortunately with the bitterly cold temps, my hands stay cold and it doesn't have the awesome french-tip-like effect I usually get. Cold & Bottle in fluorescent Cold & bottle in incandescent Warm in incandescent - VNL is visible   Nostalgia by KPT in the sun, cold A wee bit warmer in fluorescent Warmer in mixed light. She Walks in Beauty is from a England's "heavenly quotes" series that takes their names from bits of classic poetry.  Medium-sized metallic light pink hex glitter plus fine gold dust shimmer in a clear base, I've usually seen it used as a layering polish, though it could easily be built to opacity on its own in about 3 coats. indoor fluorescent lighting The layering possibilities on this one are wide open: most of the swatches online show it as a soft springtime look by layering it over a light pink to match the hex glitter, while over black it looks very dramatic.  I'm wearing it here over Sephora OPI Frankly I Don't Give A-dam, a nearly one -coat medium  crème  grey t hat I like as neutral undies for a lot of things.
