Earlier this year, Cirque announced the return of their "UP sister" LE shade Thicker Than Water, which of course being turquoise sparkle is something I've regretted missing for some time now. Unfortunately, that return was only a handful of bottles that went in a fb lottery, and I was not a winner, waaah. To try and put that lemming to bed, I did snap up a couple other things here & there...

Prism Polish UK is a relatively new brand, and this is my first taste of their magic. Leave His Brains is a vibrant aqua-blue jelly with a sparkly gold to green UP sister pigment, and according to the official description, a dash of red shimmer.

That added red shimmer kept throwing me for a loop, because in some lighting it makes this shimmer look like Clarins 230 red to green instead of one of her sisters - this effect didn't translate to photos, but I swear it's there enough of the time IRL to have me going back to PPUK's website to read the description one more time just to be sure.

Leave His Brains is not a dupe for Cirque Thicker Than Water - though both polishes are aqua/teal, the Cirque is much more green-leaning while the PPUK is more blue-leaning (per some extremely helpful side-by-side comparison pics on fb). The sparkle payoff factor seems to be very similar, though.

I'm wearing 3 coats here, and to my eye this was completely opaque. This is a polish that's sheer by design to let that shifty shimmer sparkle forth, but the color is saturated enough to build beautifully. I didn't see VNL either IRL or in most of my pics, so I think this formula is pretty ideal for doing what it's intended to, and the jelly base makes for a glassy shine with just a thin layer of topcoat.

Rating: a sparkly 4 out of 5 stars. The formula was easy to work with, tolerating some degree of over-working without balding, and wore rather well - both unusual for jelly polishes. You can tell with one look at the saturated aqua and know that it's going to stain the bejezus out of your cuticles, and you'd be right, so paint carefully.
Where to buy: the US distributor for
