Shleee Polish May Queen

When Shleee released a few polishes with unusual names (100% her usual thing) early this year, I didn't cotton on to there being a theme until someone else squee'd over it.  Once I watched the devastating brain-warp that is Midsommar, wow did I get it.  Fortunately for me, she restocked the sparklefest gem of the collection so I could snap it up.

May Queen is an homage to the dress that culminates the film, and this polish absolutely wins for most dead-on-accurate nod to its inspiration of pretty much any polish ever.

This is a vibrant spring green jelly, overflowing with an ocean of iridescent flakies that primarily flash pink & gold, plus plenty of small round holographic glitters.

There's also a much smoother shimmer here that compliments and underlies the other elements of this polish, shifting from flamingo pink straight on (above) to a bright green-tinted gold at steep angles (below).

I'm wearing 3 coats here, which was nicely opaque to my eye.  This happens to be one of those polishes where the shimmer/flake elements dazzle the eye, while the camera sees through them to the jelly base - any VNL or sheer look is absolutely an artefact of the camera, and truly pictures do not do this one justice.

Additionally, the holo glitters absolutely freaked my camera out, especially in bright light where the sheer-only-in-the-camera effect was most pronounced.  Rest assured this is an absolutely over-the top explosion of glittery fireworks that you can see from meters away when in sunlight, but the shaded daylight pics up top are the most accurate for color and overall look of this polish.

Rating:  5 out of 5 stars, practically perfect in every way.  Despite the encrustation of glitter and flakies, the formula was smooth and easy to work with, requiring zero finagling for even coverage.  It needed 2 layers of topcoat, but was glassy smooth after that.  May Queen wore exceptionally well for a jelly, with minimal edgewear after several days.  And it was nowhere near as challenging to remove as its glitterbomb visual effect would imply, just a light scrub with acetone was all I needed after my usual soak & pull removal method.

Where to buy:  this one has proven popular enough to be restocked a few times, but grab it at Shleee's store while you can.
