Anti-Book Club Nails: Nvr Enuff Dragon Heartstring

Image
Our latest book club pick did not sit well with me.  I had a huge hate for that book, and tossed it in the "life is too short" pile and moved on.  I'm not going to mention the particular book for a whole lot of reasons that have to do with avoiding search engine shenaniganery, and so instead let's focus on the fiery duochromes that went into my "F this book" look. indoor, bright CF lighting I started this look with a base of straight piano-black crème, then pulled out a bottle  of very long untried Dragon Heartstring from Nvr Enuff. outdoor, bright daylight Dragon Heartstring is a topper that's got a whole lot going on - that means it's actually dense enough to wear solo if you don't mind 3-4 coats, but the flashy elements play much better over darker colors, and I'm using classic black to make it really sing. outdoor, bright daylight There's a generous helping of linear holo in this mix, as well as duochromatic pigment that flips from w...

Easter Bunny Nails

Image
After loving my last stamped look so much, a coworker was joking with me that I needed to keep the energy rolling with something festive for the holiday, "like candy and bunnies and stuff."  Well, when inspiration strikes, voila: bright afternoon daylight I've started on my pointer & middle fingers with a shimmery white polish, and on the rest with Pahlish Weasley's Wizard Wheezes (which I've now used several times for nail art but not yet on its own).  The adorable cartoon-style bunnies are from MoYou London Mother Nature 17 - there's several repeating rabbits in that image, and I've removed all but one.  The grass is from Emily de Molly 07, with the rest of the tip painted in underneath.  The white dots to make my other nails turn into decorated eggs are from my trusty huge XXL-4 plate. Hope your easter was candy-filled! ~Michelle

Book Club Nails: Barbarian Days

Image
Our most recent book club pick was Barbarian Days, by William Finnegan, a memoir about surfing and life.  Though the subject didn't appeal to me at first (neither nonfiction in general nor autobiographies in specific are my cuppa), the book is genuinely fantastic, and I wanted to pull out the stops for our meet-up.  And it occurred to me I had a plate for that... outdoor, bright daylight for both I've started here with 2 coats of Fancy Gloss Lace, a soft pink that she sells as a "sheer" and we can certainly debate whether this is jelly vs crelly.  In any case, you'd need perhaps 4 coats for opacity, which is not actually what it's for IMO.  This polish is absolutely the best ever "my nails but better" shade at just a couple coats.  The sheerness keeps it neutral to the point I think it'd provide an utterly perfect clean nail art base on any skin tone. KADS Nature 011 is a square plate with 4 images of waves crashing in 3 layers, which means you ...
