Anti-Book Club Nails: Nvr Enuff Dragon Heartstring

Our latest book club pick did not sit well with me.  I had a huge hate for that book, and tossed it in the "life is too short" pile and moved on.  I'm not going to mention the particular book for a whole lot of reasons that have to do with avoiding search engine shenaniganery, and so instead let's focus on the fiery duochromes that went into my "F this book" look.

I started this look with a base of straight piano-black crème, then pulled out a bottle  of very long untried Dragon Heartstring from Nvr Enuff.

Dragon Heartstring is a topper that's got a whole lot going on - that means it's actually dense enough to wear solo if you don't mind 3-4 coats, but the flashy elements play much better over darker colors, and I'm using classic black to make it really sing.

There's a generous helping of linear holo in this mix, as well as duochromatic pigment that flips from warm red to copper to bronzed gold (the sort in Dance Legend Boo or Darling Diva Flash).  Matching hex glitters in there are surprisingly a subtle touch that gets overwhelmed by the rest of the sparkle going on here.

This topper covers very completely - you can see the huge difference between the plain black accent nail and the rest - and this is in just one generous coat.

The shift is quick and dramatic, not quite getting to green, but going through all the warm jewel-toned colors on this side of the spectrum.  And when was the last time I wore a linear holo so bright?  Yep, old-skool holo right there, silvering out the base rather significantly but still obviously throwing a rainbow flame even when not in bright light.

For my accent nail, I've stamped a leaping monkey from MoYou London 21 using El Corazon Mysterious Mars, which is that same warm red to bronzed gold shift.

Rating:  this is a very nice 4 out of 5 stars.  Aurora polishes and toppers have been the hotness for long enough that going back to a classic duochrome-holo was a nice change.  I've loved this dramatic color shift in plenty of other versions (that stamping polish is an all-time major fave), and this is no exception.

Where to buy:  I'm fairly certain a destash is your only option here.  I don't believe Nvr Enuff opens their shop frequently (or if they're retired - social media is kinda quiet for them), so I don't know if they restock older colors on occasion.
