Sweet Baby Octopolish!

Somewhen last week I decided to engage in my own personal challenge of using Creative Shop 50 several times over, coming up with a different look each go - this is round 4, and I haven't decided completely if I'm done just yet. indoor, bright CF lighting LynBDesigns released Space Gandalf as part of a 2013 Doctor Who series, and when I wore it back then I gave this glitterbomb 4 stars.  It started as a deep, smoky deep-space navy, but I think it may have faded just a bit in the intervening years, because it now looks smoky black even on the first thin coat. outdoor, bright morning sunlight Within the midnight blue-black base is a whole starfield of holo glitters, plus both diamond and moon-shaped larger glitters.  The formula is fairly thick to suspend all that, but behaves very well, applying right where you put it, without balding if you tend to overwork things a little to get those moons to spread out and lay down flat. indoor, bright CF lighting This poli...

Way back in 2008-ish, Essie released a glittery navy blue that plenty of polish people lemming after, Starry Starry Night.  Lately, plenty of indie makers have tried their hand at an "homage" or two, and though the original is still crazy expensive, I really think there's plenty of lovely "close enoughs" to be had. indoor, bright CF lighting LynB's Time And Relative Dimension In Space (TARDIS, obvs, with the cute little Who police box on the label to boot) isn't suggested anywhere to be an intentional approximation of SSN, but it sure does push the same buttons.  It's a deeply pigmented blue jelly, in a shade that starts somewhere around sapphire and shades toward navy, packed with small silver and blue/aqua glitters. outdoor, indirect shady daylight It's a bit thicker than ideal, but not at all in a way that requires thinning, and the thickness holds the glitter perfectly suspended.  I have 2 brushed coats here, no dabbing required...

Most all of LynB's polishes are inspired by some sort of geeky fun.  This is Halloween is from the Nightmare Before Christmas collection, and is a really nice fall shade. indoor CF lighting TiH is a smoky plum jelly base that has glitter of a few different sorts suspended in it.  The jelly base means that if you wanted to give this a whirl as a topper, or wear it sheer if it compliments your skintone, it's totally an option at one coat: one coat, no cleanup.  indoor CF lighting The sparseness of those glitters at one coat was enough to have me concerned about how opaque I could get it, but it's perfectly solid in 3 coats.  With this much glitter, it does of course end up with a bit of texture, but one layer of top coat smooths things out fine. indoor, office fluorescents With 3 layers, the base becomes more smoke than purple, and the wine glitters emerge as the most dominant color.  There's a scattering of Halloween orange glitters thrown in, a...
