KBShimmer Ready For This Jelly + Moumantai Comparison

A fave brand's upcoming collection includes an utterly gorgeous, rich, deep violet, jam-packed with "ocean" flakies, and I just have to... wait a sec, I'm sure I've bought this before...

KB shimmer released the gorgeous Ready For This Jelly as an exclusive for PolishCon 2016.  It's a deep, saturated, bottom-of-the-sea violet packed with the "ocean" type iridescent flakies that shift aqua to blue to green.

This polish went on like a dream in 3 perfectly smooth coats, giving me zero problems with the brush or formula.

Interestingly enough, this polish starts out purple and very sheer on the first coat, yet somehow builds to looking violet and if anything leans slightly more blue than purple.  I've no idea how it leans cooler-toned with each coat, but the end result is stunning and looks just as vibrant as the bottle.

If the luscious color wasn't enough, RFTJ wore fantastically well for a jelly, without visible edgewear after 3+ days.

This color combo is an utter winner that draws me like catnip... no wonder I was about to click "buy" on that other one.  But in fact, I've indeed already bought this twice...

On the left, we have Moumantai, which was KBS's offering for the October 2020 "Animation" themed PPU, and RFTJ on the right.  To my eye the base jelly and the color shift in the flakies looks the same.

Moumantai is on my middle finger (with the watermark).  It needed the same 3 coats as RFTJ did, and had the same strange "starts out as sheer purple but builds to blue-leaning violet" phenomenon, to the point where I'm calling the jelly base of these two identical.  The only difference is in Moumantai's flakies, which are smaller, more prominent, more dense, and more metallic. The overall look is very similar, but a little more flashy.

Rating:  5 out of 5 stars, Ready For This Jelly is a serious stunner.  If I was going to nitpick any flaw, it'd be that this clings to cuticles like crazy, but come on, all colors in this family do that when they're super saturated.  Paint careful and rock on.

Where to buy:  since this was an exclusive back in the day, keep an eye on blog sales & destashes... or for your fave brand to lean into this color scheme.
