"Unicorn Pee" (GAH how I hate that moniker. but one must swim with the tide - note that my "230/FF" tag has been updated to include UP in there. sigh.) is back in craze in a huge way with indie nail polish creators over the past few months. I'm not alone in this being my fave sparkle pretty much ever, and even in a hoard that's kinda out of control, I just can't say no to this magic.

Don Deeva has been releasing a few Clarins 230/Fantasy Fire/Unicorn Pee polishes over the last year or so, then announced this pair in her fan group this month - a duo of jelly polishes with DOUBLE the typical amount of shifty shimmer in them.
Obviously, these got snapped up by yours truly ASAP.

The two have utterly identical formulas - both go on perfectly smooth, but need extra dry time in between coats due to their jelly nature - with Sid Vicious the more wine purple and Nancy the violet purple.

There was of course no way to pick which I was wearing first, so as the kids say, "why not both?"

Sid & Nancy's jelly formulas each needed 3 coats for the level of opacity you see here. I like the slightly glassy-translucent look with jellies, but you could always go for a 4th layer if you want denser coverage. On my middle and ring fingers, I brushed on a gradient of the two colors (jellies are
super easy to make gradients with, no sponging required, just brush halfway down each nail leaving the edge irregular on each coat, and overlapping each coat in a different place so you don't get a straight line across), and switched the directions of the gradient on my other hand - there's a bit more Sid on my left and a bit more Nancy on my right.

Because of the density of shimmer pigment, these dry slightly dull and need topcoat to bring back the wet-look shine. Because this pigment really reflects light, in lower lighting it's fairly hidden. In bright sunlight, though, KERPOW

And yes indeed, both of these lovelies show off that bronze and emerald flash that's the hallmark of this shimmer.

Yeah, the glowing embers this casts off in afternoon sunlight is just everything.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars for both, with my only nitpick being that these wore like jellies on me, with obvious edgewear within a couple of days. The formula for both was easy to work with, and I really like the Deeva's brush, so these are keepers for sure.
Where to buy: Don Deeva intended these as a one-and-done because of the quantity of shimmer pigment used in each. Keep an eye on destashes & blog sales, or plead with her to bring them back.
