Bee's Knees Friend From Work

One good superhero themed polish deserves another... come to think of it, why do I not have any Batman-themed nail stuff?  Anyway!

Bees Knees released Friend From Work as part of their Thor Ragnarok collection, and it takes what's arguably the best line from the movie and makes it into one of the best polish names ever.  I gotta say, I really love it when the inspiration/name is dead-on to what's in the bottle.  Friend is the Hulk's classic purple pants, liberally sprinkled with a green-to-teal-to blue microflake shimmer.

Indeed, it's the same shimmer as the amazing House on Haunted Chill, though while that polish sparkled non-stop, this one looks magenta/plum most of the time, but picks up the amazing shimmer at angles.

2 smooth coats brought me to visible opacity and what looks like the same depth of color as the bottle.  Next go-round, I might try 3 to see if that amps up the sparkle factor of the shimmer.  Friend From Work is a little sticky, like some jellies can be, so needs time in between coats to prevent dragging.  It dries to a rubbery matte finish, so I'm showing this with one layer of topcoat to bring out all the microflake shimmer.

Keeping with the superhero theme (and my need to try out all these new El Corazon polishes), I stamped some comic book-y bubbles and explosions from Winstonia 309 using El Corazon Fragrant Mimosa.  These EC polishes are SUPER opaque and heavily pigmented, to the point where I'm starting to get why some people feel the need to use liquid latex before stamping.

Rating:  3 out of 5 stars for being pretty, but not devastating in the way her blue sister was.  Maybe a 3rd coat will bump that up, I'll ponder that next time I grab this one.

Where to buy:  Unfortunately, Bees Knees seems to be the type of store that offers any one collection for months at a time, then rotates things out for the new stuff, so Friend From Work and the other Ragnarok polishes are gone from the Bees Knees store.  Several of them are available from other stockists, though, like Girly Bits or Color 4 Nails, so keep your eyes open!
