I managed to miss Magma both times Baroness X released it as a custom for her facebook group, but thankfully Suzy had a spare she was willing to let fall into my grabby little hands, because HOT DAMN if this isn't one of my absolute all time fave reds EVER.

Hold on y'all, there's going to be a whole lot of pics.

Magma is a devastatingly gorgeous true red jelly filled with that magically shifty red-gold-green Clarins 230 type shimmer that I swoon over. As with her other FB group customs of this type, Demi makes a UP-less jelly to use as undies if you'd like to conserve the magic in this bottle; I like to live dangerously, so this is 3 thin coats of Magma all on its own.

Though the red base has no shifting properties of its own, its interactions with the shimmer meant that this color looked quite different on me in different lighting, sometimes candy apple red, sometimes a bit darker, sometimes much warmer. Red can be a really difficult color with my skin tone (I avoided red polishes for years and still won't buy red clothing), but this one is classic and lovely and sexy AF.

This jelly is saturated enough to give great color, but sheer enough to let the shimmer sparkle through even in low lighting. The formula is dead perfect, of an ideal thickness that stayed where I put it, and then drying quickly as well - both factors not always true for jellies.

In bright light, of course, those little glimmers of rainbow blaze right on into life, starting at fire red coals...

...then to glowing golden bronze embers...

....and of course that green flash, muted to a more chartreuse peridot than emerald by the red of the base.

After the edges started to show a little wear, I was still nowhere near done with loving this color. I freshened up the tips, then added stamping using classic rose motifs from BPL-024 with El Corazon Egyptian Scarabaeus.

The classic gold-on-red combo was just what I wanted... and the shift that Egyptian Scarabaeus does over to green matched Magma's color changes just right.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars, there's nothing at all imperfect about this polish. Color and formula were super, and it even wore better on me than jellies tend to do, with only very minimal edgewear after 3 or 4 days.
Where to buy: join Baroness X's FB group, then cross your fingers for a restock of this lovely.
