Baroness X Celestial Warrior

Magnetic polish is one of my super fave nail art looks, but as everyone who has attempted this knows, magnetics take more time and patience than some other techniques.  When I find that I have the time to paint, like I did this past weekend, it's definitely time to grab one of my untried pretties!

Baroness X released Celestial Warrior as part of last year's Black Friday special box - I've grabbed several of her themed boxes over the years, and there's always something to love in there.  This one is a shifting aurora borealis of duochromatic colors in a quite sheer base.  I'm not at all sure that you could get these shimmers opaque on their own, and I'm showing this in 2 coats over black.

The magnetic shimmer shifts from pink to gold, while the base shimmer shifts from green to aqua to purple to navy blue.

It's gorgeously sparkly in the sun, and the shifts of the two shimmer types don't happen at the same time, leading to lots of visually interesting combinations.

Like all shimmer-heavy polishes, the sparkle tended to cling to my cuticles a bit, but nothing a good scrub the next morning couldn't take care of.

Wear time was dependent of course on the staying power of the undies I used, and use of this topper was right in keeping with my normal several days of wear looking sharp.

The magnetic lines came up nice and crisp at the start, then softened up a little overnight. This is very much the type of shimmer that throws a fantastic "cat's eye" 3D type of effect, so is a bit more dramatic in motion than what these pics capture.

Rating:  a sparkly 4 out of 5 stars, this polish is lovely.  Over the neutral base of black, the duochromatic nature of these shifting shimmers really pops, while none of the many color shift combos clash with each other. The shimmer is also heavy enough that a black base looks vampy but not goth.  All of which is me saying that while experimentation with other undie colors might produce a cool look, basic black is an A+ choice for this magnetic topper.

Where to buy:  as of this moment, Celestial Warrior is still available as an overpour from this LE box at Baroness X's store.
