Ethereal Rainforest + Disc of the Heavens

It's March, and that's my birthday month and St Patrick's Day month, and my fave color is green... all of which means I've now become convinced it's all-green month (because hey, I need a creative way to pick which treasure left too-long-buried in my stash needs to be tried out).

Ethereal lives up to the name yet again with Rainforest - instead of a dark, mysterious jungle, we have a light, airy, cool wisp of green tint, filled to the brim with finely milled aurora shimmer.  While it's possible to wear this extremely sheer polish on its own, this color combo tends to emphasize rather than blur my nails' free edge, so I searched through the stash for a base choice that would get me closest to the look in the bottle.

Pretty Serious had a series of polishes called "The Museum of Naileontology" that were her versions of very hard to find mainstream gems.  This one is Disc of the Heavens, her nod to Chanel Jade.  Just like its inspo, this polish is a soft pistachio green - nowhere near bright or neon, a little too desaturated to be called mint - with a delicate ice green shimmer.  I'm wearing 2 coats here, and had no challenges with getting this to be smooth and even, an occasional struggle with pastels.

I've layered a single thicker coat of Rainforest over Disc of the Heavens to get this brightly glowing otherworldly fire.  The pastel base is a far less dramatic look than when layering a color-shifter over black, but I'm in love with this pearlescent glow, it's just what I was hoping for!

Though it was nearly impossible to capture on camera, Rainforest is a deep copper that's not quite red when viewed in direct light, and like other aurora shimmers, it then shifts through gold and finally bright green in angled light.  Most often, this looked like an iridescent gold over the green.

Simultaneously soft and springtime but also magically flashy?  Love it!

Rating:  a luminous 5 out of 5 stars for Rainforest.  Though this polish appears to be a single look in the bottle, it's actually quite versatile.  It takes a good 4 coats when worn on its own, and still isn't opaque then, though the shimmer is lovely.  Just like the Clarins 230-type shimmers, this type of sheer aurora absolutely shines most dramatically over black, but I think the look trying to approximate the bottle color is spectacular.  There's just enough green tint to the base that this would likely look muddy if layered over a warm color (red or orange), but looks vastly different and very pretty layered over different green hues.

Where to buy:  Same as always, PPU is a one-and-done unless fan fave colors return at rewind month in July.  Rainforest was a blockbuster, so there's always a chance!
