Femme Fatale Welkin at Dusk

The weather is turning a little crisp lately, and my nails are a touch longer than I usually keep them, so clearly it's thermal time!

Femme Fatale released Welkin at Dusk as an exclusive for her fan group in September 2020, and though thermal nail polishes are really only guaranteed to transition for 6 months, I had zero troubles with this shade a year later.

Welkin is an absolutely beautiful color combo, transitioning from a teal-leaning blue when warm to a deep indigo sapphire when cool.  There's chunky holo dust and tiny holo glitters nicely visible in any point of the thermal transition, yet this took only 2 coats to result in very good opacity even while in  the warm state.

Unfortunately for me, I just don't think I've done this polish justice with these pics.  For a bunch of reasons I just didn't devote time to getting good pics, so these are all indoor shots.  The thermal component to this polish is very responsive and gives a quick transition, but because the two colors are so complimentary it often looks like a subtle gradient rather than a stark funky french tip.

Rating:  a luscious 4 out of 5 stars.  I have no idea why, but nobody else uses these tiny holo glitters, and most every polish Femme Fatale makes with them is a twinkly masterpiece.  This beautiful color is right in my wheelhouse, and it was very easy to work with.  The only downside was this formula was a little bit chippy and wore quicker than ideal, needing a touch-up on a couple edges within 2 days.  Some scrubbing is required as per usual to get the last of the little glitters off, but not too bad.

Where to buy:  haunt blog sales and destashes, since Femme Fatale doesn't ever bring back these colors of the month.
