Bee's Knees Luna Moth Wing

Bee's Knees keeps releasing double handfuls of  fantastic mystery polishes on a new theme each month, and if you're willing to be patient and pay a (very minor and reasonable) premium, to pick the ones you want after the fact.  From the April bags, this was my super fave, and one of the reasons I bought mystery bags rather than waiting.

Luna Moth Wing is about dead on for its namesake.  This is a pale green somewhere between celery and mint, very subtly greyed out, lightly sprinkled with holo dust/microflake and 'sister' shimmer of the type related to Clarins 230 (this time in green to gold).  It's a very wearable, soft pastel, nowhere near neon or in-your-face, with the subtlety of the shimmer being a light accent to the earthy color.

At 2 coats, Luna was decently opaque; 3 brought it to completely solid.  In bright light, there would be small flashes of either the shimmer particles or the holo dust (or both of course), but this did need the right lighting for those elements to really pop.

Hmmm, subtle not-quite-hidden shimmer, milk-glass earth-tone pastel?  I'm just going to call this Bee's Knees version of Chanel Jade.

Green loves more green, especially with a new-growth verdant shade like this.  I've stamped using OPI Christmas Gone Plaid and a foliage or peace lily pattern from Creative Shop 24.  My accent nails are the same pattern, but now filled in with green and brown shimmer polishes.

Rating:  3 out of 5 stars.  While this color is a resounding YES, the formula was for the most part what you'd expect from a pale, creamy pastel:  a little thick and streaky until it evened out, and the 3 coats led to far too rapid edgewear/chipping.  Still, a super keeper, and I will be using this again especially when I need things colored just like a Luna Moth's Wing.

Where to buy:  as of this moment, there's still some available at the Bee's Knees store - grab them while you can!

    1. If you don't see any in her store, they they're sold out - BK keeps things around for a while, but not permanently. You can always request a "respawn" from her!
