Once in a very long while, Vapid has released a single LE polish for a couple of days as a preorder, never to be seen again. The first of these, Ride or Die, was released before I was into Vapid and has since acquired legendary status in the polish community, going for crazy money at auction. I was lucky enough to snap up the other two as they came out, but there they sit on Mount Untried.

Each of these 3 LEs are super linear holographic polishes with a beautiful metallic chrome multichromatic finish. The first of the two I have, Cyber Punk, starts off as a lovely light wine/dark pink when viewed directly...
|
outdoor, shady & overcast daylight |
Then shifts toward a more peachy, warm, baby pink...
|
indoor, CF lighting |
Then continues warming up past peach and on into gold...
|
window-filtered bright afternoon daylight |
And finally over to bronze with a suggestion of green at the furthest angles.

The overall shift is in the same family as Tonic Mermaid Scales and ILNP Nostalgia, but is significantly more holo than either.

I'm showing 2 coats here, which is easily visually opaque. When I look through my back-lit nails (as when my fingertips are resting at the top of the car's steering wheel), it becomes apparent that the base is a very sheer grey - this looks opaque because of how jam-packed with shimmer and holo it is... and of course it's that same sheerness that lets these elements shine as boldly as they do. There are rumors that Cyber Punk stamps well, like many linear holos do, but on some quick test swatches over black and white on my mat, that's a nope. A light wash of sparkly color is left behind, and while the borders of the image stay distinct the design is not at all clear, and the base color is easily visible through the stamping: just because you can doesn't mean you should. Oh well.

Rating: a gorgeous 4 out of 5 stars, a major hit of the summer. The formula is thin and dries quickly, yet tolerates being worked on without balding if you brush over the same spot twice (occasionally a major headache for super linear holos). This wears a little more quickly than ideal, but the extra bright rainbows help distract your eyes from noticing anything else.
Where to buy: Vapid is unfortunately closing, and announced a one-time re-release of all 3 of these multichrome holos. I snapped up Ride or Die, and here's hoping you grabbed any you wanted! With a few more on the market after this wave, maybe people who missed out will have more luck in blog sales & destashes.
