Femme Fatale Wrapped in a Cloud

With my nails grown out a bit longer than usual to make enough room for Halloween nail art, plus the cooler temperatures lately, reaching for a thermal was the obvious plan.

Wrapped in a Cloud is part of Femme Fatale's latest release (what??  I'm not leaving a new polish to languis untried for months??), based off of a classical painting with lots of dark, smoky earth tones.  Above, in the coldest state, it's a deeply inky teal.

The announcement for this color said it was only "technically" a tri-thermal, and that 3 distinct color states wouldn't be obvious.  While at no point did I ever see 3 bands of color at one time on my nails, I did in fact notice 3 different colors overall.  In the warmest state, Cloud is a cool-toned concrete grey that's unfortunately much more sheer and patchy-looking than either of the other states - While 2 medium thick coats were perfectly opaque while painting, I clearly should have done 3.  The most elusive color is the plummy purple at my tips in this transition pic - when it's there, it's gorgeous, but the temperature does have to be just right to see it.

There are beautiful turquoise glitters in 2 sizes here that are more prominent in the warm states but somewhat vanish in the coldest state.  Interestingly, these glitters really catch the light in low-light or indirect lighting situations, even when the polish is cold.  Though usually this amount of glitter gives us all a bit of grief, this was surprisingly easy to work with.  No glitter fishing or dabbing in place was needed for this to have an even distribution, it removed quite easily, and only a single thick layer of topcoat was needed to smooth it all out.

Rating:  3 out of 5 stars.  I would have liked this a lot better at 3 coats than the 2 I did, since the warmest state looked a little too streaky/uneven.  The colors are more earthy and "grownup" than a lot of thermals I have, and this is a truly pretty polish, so I'll be giving it another whirl sometime.

Where to buy:  direct from Femme Fatale, or one of her stockists.
