Shleee Polish Cult 2.0

So many releases lately have featured lush, beautiful, vampy cool-toned colors.  In an effort to hold on to my no/low buy, I went shopping in my stash... and I'm ready to kick myself for letting this one languish unloved for 3 years!!

Shleee Polish has now and again released a few polishes themed to American Horror Story (in keeping with her creepy-cool aesthetic), and this one rolled out in 2017 along with the Cult season.  I'm showing version 2.0 here, so if this strikes your fancy be aware that there were subtle differences in the amount of shimmer in the 2 versions.

Cult 2.0 is a luscious violet jelly filled to the brim with aurora and glassfleck shimmers.  The red flash of the aurora pulls the whole look firmly over to royal purple, and in all lighting it's either shimmer or borderline metallic in its flash.

This is indeed that flavor of aurora shimmer that comes close to a Clarins 230-type shimmer, showing red in direct lighting, then shifting over to gold, and hitting a peridot green at angled light (above).  Love it!!

I'm showing 3 coats of Cult 2.0 here:  the first applied slightly streaky (typical in my experience for jellies), but the 2nd and 3rd were perfectly even.  While pretty at two, that 3rd coat was needed to get to the saturation of the bottle color.

The sexy-vamp nature of this color just demanded something slinky, and my assortment of snake-themed stamping plates was just perfect.  The geometric-framed reptile scales are from Nicole Diary 113, while the snake image is from Nicole Diary 125, all in Hit the Bottle Colliding of the Realms, then matted.

Rating:  a fantastic 4 out of 5 stars.  The formula was easy to work with and surprisingly for a color this dark did not require epic clean-up.  Like most dark colors, though, it showed edge wear quite quickly.  So worth it!

Where to buy:  though this is a slightly older polish, Shlee continually surprises me by pulling an oldie out of the vault and throwing in a restock along with her new polish launches each Friday morning.  Keep your eyes open!
