Polished for Days Milky Way + Baroness X Singularity + OPI Movin' Out comparison

This past July, the theme of For the Love of Polish was "galaxy," and while the other 2 polishes in that box got a lot of buzz, the deep navy from Polished for Days was the first one that caught my eye.

Polished for Days is a new-to-me brand, and this first try was a real winner.  Milky Way is a deep dark (but never black!) navy blue that is absolutely filled with ruby red shimmer, enough so that the look at arm's length tilts decidedly toward purple.  In my mind, this is OPI Russian Navy with the shimmer dialed all the way up to 11.

I'm wearing this in 2 coats, though it was aaaaaaaaalmost a 1 coater.  Milky Way has an excellent formula of ideal thickness that stays where you put it, with no cuticle pooling - pretty critical for something this dark that would be otherwise difficult to clean up.

Obviously, a navy blue background that's already showcasing a red flash prompted the need to top this with some 230/UP, and my picks from Baroness X's recent Shift in Space-time collection were right there, so...

Baroness X Singularity is a satin-pink in the bottle and on the nail when viewed directly on (above), but tilt it just a touch to the side, and the red-to-green shift I swoon for is right there (below).

It was intended as an nod to the now hard to find OPI Movin' Out, so I pulled that one out to compare.  In all pics, there's one coat of each, with Movin Out on my ring finger and Singularity on all the rest.

Singularity is just a touch thicker in formula, but hey, Movin Out is about 15 years old and certainly not "5 free," so I don't know that you can do a real comparison on that level.  Over this deep navy, the two are dead-on dupes for color.  Both impart that satiny, nearly dusty pink shimmer to the base color...

...And both hit that wow emerald green at just the same time.

In the bottle, the OPI is just a little touch paler and more rosy pink, but there's no difference at all on the nail, and the "pinkness" is about identical over a plain white swatch stick (I didn't remember that pic, but trust me).

The quantity of the shimmer in the base, shimmer particle size, and the amount of duochrome shift visible is neck-and-neck for both of these beauties.

Rating:  Milky Way is a fantastic 4 out of 5 stars.  It went on smooth, wore great, and is a lovely color, and I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for more from this brand.  Singularity and Movin' Out are both also a solid 4 out of 5 stars for me, with no preference at all for one over the other.  The satiny pink base is probably the least flashy but still showy vehicle for 230/UP shimmer - with only a very few exceptions, makers often try to highlight this ingredient by making the flash as in-your-face POW as possible, so these guys really are unique from other 230/UP polishes in my stash.

Where to buy:  Milky Way was a box exclusive and no overpours were sold individually - haunt destashes to find a bottle.  Movin' Out is long sold out, and going for $25 or more on eBay, where I do still see an occasional bottle pop up.  Baroness X still has Singularity in stock now, so that's your best bet!
