Nvr Enuff What's Your Damage?

The man picked "blue, but a bright blue, not like navy" when I was stumped on a polish pick this week, and it's been rainy and overcast enough that I figured a duochrome was in order.

What's Your Damage? was Nvr Enuff's contribution to last year's 80s themed PPU, with the name being the most frequently quoted bit from Heathers.  I'd lent the movie this week to a coworker who'd never seen it (!!) so this all seemed to come right together.

While I love this movie and I love this color, I'm gonna have to say the two have nothing to do with each other.  I really don't see anything of Heathers' color scheme in here, more like that of a smoky cyber punk tale.

WYD starts with a violet base somewhere between lavender and faded blue jeans.  On top, we have a very metallic, very flashy, subtly shifty shimmer that goes from pale aqua to electric neon blue...

...and on over to a bright zip of periwinkle, nearly true purple, in angled light.  Unfortunately, thouse flashes of teal or periwinkle happened only in specific lighting circumstances, the other photos here are how WYD looked most of the time - smoky lavender with a metallic blue flash.

I have a feeling it's the same foil-type shimmer as in Pretty Serious Mummy Mush and a handful of really pretty things Emily de Molly has released.  There's also a light sprinkling of holo flake and a little bit of finer particle holo dust, both of which usually playing second fiddle to the metallic chrome shimmer.

I'm showing 2 coats here with one layer of topcoat.  The macro photos show some texture due to the holo elements, but IRL this was mostly smooth, and absolutely did not have the sort of texture that has you picking at the teeny bumpy bits.

Rating:  3 out of 5 stars, a pretty polish with a decent formula, but I wish the shimmer showed more of the shift on the nail.  This would be perfect for a halloween costume plan for a robot, futuristic, or frozen fairy look.  It wore a little quicker than I like, though no chipping was evident several days later.

Where to buy:  PPU is a one-and-done sort of affair, so keep your eyes out for blog sales & destashes if this strikes your fancy.
