Polish Pickup launched this weekend, and since everything in there is one & done, there's always plenty of FOMO - if I see something gorgeous, instinct says to grab it ASAP. I'm really trying to slow my acquisitions, so I spent a whole lot of time flipping through my swatch sticks before pulling the trigger on this month's glittering space jewels. In this targeted shopping of my own stash, I found not one but THREE smoky, muted purples with golden shimmer, which both conveniently saved me from another purchase and also reminded me that all three were untried.

After debating the available smoked out purples, I went with this borderline glitterbomb from Emily de Molly, Subtle Silence (clearly, anything but). It's packed with both holo microglitters and a gorgeous greeny-gold shimmer overlay, so while I was at it, Enchanted Polish's Good Life (with matching shimmer) came out for an accent nail.

Both polishes had excellent coverage in just one coat, but two deepened the colors to what you see in the bottle. Formulas were both utter perfection, smoothly flowing without being thick (amazing considering the flakes/glitter/shimmer in Subtle Silence) or runny (amazing considering the shimmer overload in Good Life). Cleanup was bizarrely easy, without the expected deposition of shimmer tidbits all over my skin.

I love dark colors like this - still clearly a color and not simply black, and good monkeys look at that shimmer! Both are nearly blinding in the sun.

Few of the pics here truly capture the cool greenish tint on this shimmer. IRL it's less truly gold than it's showing up here, though not all the way over into "wow that's a crazy color" with a mismatched look. Good Life ends up rather foil-ish, while Subtle Silence is always blingy, even in lower light.

I wore these 2 solo for a couple of days, then freshened things up with stamping to tie them more together. I used Esmaltes da Kelly's Wendy with a spade-shaped motif from MoYou London's luscious art noveau-themed plate, artist collection 26. I covered my ring finger with the whole design, then removed the thicker framing portion and shifted the design up for the rest of my fingers - as in, yes, this is all the same single image off the same plate.

Rating: a solid 4 out of 5 stars for both of these pretty polishes, both of which wore nicely and were utterly fantastic to apply.
Where to buy: I believe both of these are discontinued by their respective stores, so keep an eye out on destashes & blog sales.
