Femme Fatale Trees Talking in Their Sleep

Of course, the one thing that makes you feel better after a complete nail fail is something gorgeous... and my picks from Femme Fatale's new Anne of Green Gables collection just showed up.

Once upon a time during a Femme Fatale sample sale, many of us swooned over a lucky fellow hoarder's score of a beautiful thermal called "Forestlord"... and the fan group instantly recognized it when this production version was released 2+ years later.

Trees Talking in Their Sleep is a tonal dark-to-light thermal that shifts from dark taupe (cold) to palest nude (warm) that's absolutely full of iridescent green flakies.  These aren't opaque ultrachrome flakes, but are instead the translucent ones that shift a bit toward aqua and blue and transparently vanish in oblique light.

In most of the pics I have here, the overall color is captured a bit too aqua/blue; these flakies really do lean toward a jungle emerald green when viewed head-on, though they do tip toward the pictured aqua at angles.  Then again, I did discover the day after painting that everything does hit a striking violet blue at longer angles - yep, secret duochrome!

I've seen several similar-feeling polishes lately with a more stark black-to-clear base color shift, but IMHO the softer taupe-to-nude color makes Trees much more wearable all across the possible color range.

The warm state calls to mind the ethereally pretty Barielle Buddha-ful, only with a bit more opacity.  Perfect!

I wasn't ready to take this one off despite having a little edgewear, so I freshened up the tips and added some (literal) trees from EDM-07 using Esmaltes da Kelly Boba Fett and Hit the Bottle Copper Haired Girl.  When Trees was in transition, this stamping looked really cool, as though the trees cast shadow or were each sitting on a little hill of earth.

Rating:  5 out of 5 stars for this gorgeous thermal.  Trees went on smoothly and evenly despite being packed with flakes, and 3 coats was good for the opacity shown here.
