Starlight Polish Unicorn Tears was absolutely lovely...and when I leave lovely things untried for so long, there's always a good chance something similar has caught my eye in the time between purchasing and wearing it.

The beautiful green shimmer in a vampy purple base is an eye-catching enough combo that I've definitely magpied similar things before. To compare with Starlight Polish Unicorn Tears, I've pulled the recently released Bee's Knees Concilium and Femme Fatale Maleficent.

In the bottle, Unicorn Tears and Concilium look quite similar, with shimmer particles bordering on glass-fleck sparkly in jelly bases. Maleficent is distinctly different here, with the glowy green being a much more finely milled texture.

At an angle, another difference pops out right away - the shimmer in Maleficent tilts over to a bright pinkish magenta rather than the aqua and cobalt blue of the other two.

On the nail, I'm showing Unicorn Tears in 4 coats (my prior mani) on my index and pinky fingers, Concilium in 4 coats on my middle finger, and Maleficent in 2 coats on my ring finger (watermark always on Maleficent in these photos).

Though Maleficent's color scheme has a similar "feel" with these other two, it's quite different. Much more opaque, Maleficent is nearly a one-coater, with an overall smooth looking shimmer rather than the bright sparks of color the two "UP sister" jellies show, and of course that shimmer shifts quite differently at angled lighting.

No dupes at all between our two "UP sister" jellies, because Concilium's base is a little more sheer, doesn't look as opaque with the same number of coats, and is definitely a more red-toned plum than the blue-leaning eggplant purple of Unicorn Tears.

All 3 are unique, and all 3 are keepers for me!
