OPI The World is Not Enough

A couple of years ago, I swatched polishes for a while alternating between fun flashy things and neutral colors.  The experiment didn't last for the whole year, but I certainly did get around to trying out more of my browns and golds and nude colors, so I'm going to give that a whirl again this year.  We'll see how long it lasts, but a good palate cleanser reminds me of why I grabbed all these pretty but more office appropriate shades in the first place.

One of OPI's all time best ever holiday collections was the 2012 James Bond-themed Skyfall set. Yeah, the obligatory reds made their appearance as required for an OPI holiday shindig, but there were plenty of really lovely and unusual things that arrived alongside them.  A few of them, including On Her Majesty's Secret Service contained this lovely pink/green/golden shifty glass fleck shimmer.  This one is The World is Not Enough, OHMSS's bronze-taupe sister.

As with OHMSS, I needed 3 full coats for opacity.  The formula is great, not at all watery as some sheer polishes can be.  Though it's super sheer, it's smoothly even on the first coat, with nicely distributed shimmer particles on each layer.  Despite that even coverage, I don't think this would work as a topper: the base is an earthy taupe that reads as an unappealing "dirty" color on that first coat, so continuing through all 3 until you get most of the way to opacity is necessary.

Rating:  3 out of 5 stars.  TWINE is a classy metallic neutral, maybe just a touch flashy to wear to the office if you work someplace highly conservative, but fine for looking only a little edgy.  The formula is great, and through some magical wonder the shimmer doesn't do that unholy cling to the cuticle thing, making cleanup painless.  Wear time was a bit less than average, showing edgewear but no chipping after just a few days.  All in all, not my super fave shade, but a nice staple, and would make a great base for negative-space or brightly colored stamping.

Where to buy:  though this collection is long gone, this polish is still readily available on ebay.
