Delush Polish Slice of Life

One good thermal deserves another, of course, and this one fit in with my plan to alternate between traditional and non-traditional colors (yeah, right, this is nowhere near "neutral").

Delush Polish is known for their glitterbombs - big circles and chunky shapes in tinted bases that somehow manage to look put together and elegant instead of like a confetti party.  This is my first bottle from them, and in addition to the trademark glitters, this one is a red-to-wine thermal.

Slice of Life was a subtle thermal in the swatch photos floating around PPU back in October 2018 - this one is from the Villains theme month, and is inspired by Dexter.  I don't know if my bottle has died in an in-between zone or if this is just how it's always been, but I could discern no thermal shift at all.

Instead of a funky french tip change effect, Slice of Life seemed to have a subtle duochromatic shift:  in some lighting it was most definitely true scarlet red, while in others it's a deep berry wine.  The base is packed full of red glitters in many different sizes, some of which appear to flash holo gold.

Application required only a little finesse - chunky glitters can be notoriously finicky.  After a good shake and a few minutes resting upside down to let those big circles re-distribute in the bottle, I applied my first coat as thin as possible, getting only the lightest wash of the sheer purple base and lots of microglitters.  The larger glitters stuck well on the thick 2nd coat, and that with 2 layers of topcoat were good to go.

Rating:  4 out of 5 stars.  This particular shade of berry wine is absolutely in the sweet spot of what looks good with my skintone, though I gravitate more to greens and aquas.  Application was surprisingly trouble-free, though I'm not going to lie and you're not going to be even slightly surprised when I tell you that there will be scrubbing to get this concretion off of the nails.  Peel-off basecoats are your friend here, if you have one that actually works for you.

Where to buy:  PPU comes but once per theme, so unless this gets loads of votes during rewind month, keep an eye out for destashes to pick this Slice up.
