Femme Fatale Winter Fire

This winter has been really odd, swinging from freezing to springlike every week or so.  With the merely cool but not frosty temperatures outside, plus a decent length on my nails right now, it's thermal weather for sure!

Winter Fire is part of Femme Fatale's recent Stephen King inspired series for HHC.  It's thoroughly unusual, and I have nothing even close in my stash.

When this thermal is warm, it's a bright tomato/poppy orange-tinted red that would not be my usual go-to.  When cool, it's a deep slate/teal blue.  The swings this thermal takes are quite dramatic.

I've had only a few other thermals with such a vast gulf of difference between the warm and cool states, and typically I don't like them, because the in-between colors look muddy.  Somehow, though, the iridescent microglitters and flakies in this concoction keep everything tied together at all times, and it's seriously gorgeous.

The weather did NOT feel the need to participate in my swatching this week, being persistently overcast every time I had a moment to shoot some pics (hence all of these being indoor shots).  But in the 2 seconds of sunlight I saw while in the car, a gorgeous lime green flash got picked out of the flakies especially (sort of hinted at in the pic above), and the sunlight-through-water quality of the resulting glimmer is YES.

I stamped with an arabesque paisley from MoYou London Doodles 07 in metallic gold on all nails; a smaller part of the pointed tip on index & pinky, with more of the design covering my middle & ring fingers.

Rating:  a smashing 5 out of 5 stars.  Though this doesn't look exactly like the swatch photos before the sale (the warm state is much more warm-toned than the pink-magenta a few swatchers showed), the overall look is fascinating, and unique while somehow magically not clashing with itself.

Where to buy:  HHC is a one-and-done monthly event, so keep your eyes out for blog sales & destashes.
