a England She Walks in Beauty
She Walks in Beauty is from a England's "heavenly quotes" series that takes their names from bits of classic poetry. Medium-sized metallic light pink hex glitter plus fine gold dust shimmer in a clear base, I've usually seen it used as a layering polish, though it could easily be built to opacity on its own in about 3 coats.
The layering possibilities on this one are wide open: most of the swatches online show it as a soft springtime look by layering it over a light pink to match the hex glitter, while over black it looks very dramatic. I'm wearing it here over Sephora OPI Frankly I Don't Give A-dam, a nearly one-coat medium crème grey that I like as neutral undies for a lot of things.
This is one coat over the undies. At steep angles looking down my fingers, the grey showed through clearly, with the pink hexes flashing on top (as in my index finger above). The one coat was all it needed, though, to evenly coat the nail in gold shimmer. No problems at all getting the hexes or the shimmer to distribute evenly without clumps towards the tips.
In the bottle, this stuff is only gold and pink. On the nail in some lighting, the gold shifts to a fantastic electric green sparkle. The description on the a England website says that the base color-shifts, but I didn't expect this at all. Surprise duochrome!
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars. So far, I've loved the formula on every a England polish I've tried. Though it's as thick as glitter polishes often are, it's easy to control and flows nicely across the nail without flooding across your whole finger.
Where to buy: in the UK, you can buy direct from Adina. In the US, several stockists sell a England, including color4nails, Ninja Polish, and Llarowe.
